Butterflies Just Arrived
Our butterflies just arrived before Memorial Day weekend. We are really excited to get started. We have wonderful plans for what we are going to do,just hope there is enough time to implement them.
I am not familar with UDL, but I've been reading a little about it. I am from California and it sounds a lot like Differentiated Instruction that we are doing in our state. Does anyone know the whether they are the same or not?

Hi Norma,
You are not alone in your questions about UDL and Differentiated Instruction. If you look at our April Blog Archive, Sarah brought up the question in a post titled Interpretation.
According to Cast, "Differentiated instruction is a teaching theory based on the premise that instructional approaches should vary and be adapted in relation to individual and diverse students in classrooms (Tomlinson, 2001). "
"(UDL), is a curriculum designed approach to increase flexibility in teaching and decrease the barriers that frequently limit student access to materials and learning in classrooms (Rose & Meyer, 2002).

btw...I spoke with Jennifer Wagner last week and she told me that you took her workshop. She also told me that you said nice things about my projects. Thank you!
Will you be coming to NECC in San Diego? I would love to get to meet you in person.
I am going to NECC in San Diego! I am so excited about it. I've heard such great things about NECC that when I heard it was coming to CA. I knew it was for me!
I am also an NCTM member and went to the National convention when it came to San Diego and what fun that was, so I know this one will be wonderful.
I'd also love to meet you in person! We will have to plan to get together.

Hi Susan,
I will try to stop by your poster session on Scholastic Keys. I will be arriving that day, but I'll try to make it.
I am not a member of ISTE, but am thinking of joining. That session sounds really good so we'll see. I'll let you know later if I join ISTE before the conference.
I know we will find some time to meet. I was trying to think how long I've been participating in your projects. It might have been the project that you did on Time with the Franklin Museum. I'll check into that.
I'm sure we'll figure something out. Can't wait to meet you in person!
